Altar Linen Ministry

The Altar Linen Ministry cares for the sacred linens used on the altar during Mass. Members of this ministry soak, wash, and iron the linens used during the Masses. A schedule is maintained based on the availability of volunteers.

This ministry is open to all and there are no meetings held. An initial training session is provided by the leader of the ministry.

Altar Servers

Altar servers are an important part of the liturgy. They perform functional and symbolic duties during the Mass. Their reverent worship and honor of God are visible examples for the people present at the liturgy.   Altar servers assist the priest during Mass and other liturgical services.

This ministry is open to anyone who has received First Holy Communion. There are no formal meeting times. Servers should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass. There is usually a refresher training session held each year.

Eucharistic Minister

Eucharistic Ministers (EM) show devotion to the Blessed Sacrament by supporting the priests as they share the Bread of Life with the faithful of the community. EMs assist the priest during Mass with the distribution of Holy Communion. The time commitment for this ministry varies depending on the availability of each person.

This ministry is open to anyone who is 18 years of age or older. The individual must also have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Married members must have been married in the Catholic Church (or have had their marriage convalidated in the Church). Their commitment to Christ and his Church should be evident by a life lived in conformity with Church teachings.

Training is provided for all volunteers.

Greeters

Those smiling faces that you see standing at the entrances to hold the door. Their goal is simple and direct: Make people feel welcome at our parish!

This ministry is available for everyone. There are no meetings.

Volunteers will have a short training session.

Lazarus Ministry

Lay ministers offer spiritual comfort while encouraging & enabling family participation in planning & celebrating the funeral liturgy of a loved one. This ministry provides support on a periodic basis for one year culminating with remembering their loved ones at a special Mass on All Souls Day each year. Members of this ministry attend funeral Masses to offer comfort and support to the family by participating in proclaiming the Mass responses at the appropriate times and singing the selected songs.

The head of this ministry will meet with the volunteer and provide both orientation and training.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God with love and reverence at all Masses and other liturgical services. Lectors are required to read, practice, and prepare their readings before Mass.

This ministry is open to all registered and practicing parishioners who have received all Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation). If the individual is married, the marriage must have taken place in the Catholic Church (or was convalidated in the Church).

Training is provided by the head of this ministry.

Sacristan

Sacristans are responsible for setting up the liturgical vessels and books for the celebration of Mass. Sacristans keep the Tabernacle and sacristy secure.  They also purify the sacred vessels after Mass. They may also assist at baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Sacristans ensure the altar servers, lectors, ushers, gift bearers, and the Eucharistic Ministers are in place and ready to serve before Mass begins.

Members must be registered parishioners, be active, practicing Catholic, and have the desire to serve our Lord.

No formal meetings are scheduled. The sacristan coordinator trains all new members.

Usher

The main focus of the usher is to assist with the collection of financial donation during the Mass. On certain Sundays, there are two collections which the ushers are needed for. Ushers will also assist with the needs of the parishioners, such as locating bulletins or finding a place to sit.

This ministry is open to everyone. There are no formal meetings.

The head of this ministry will meet with new volunteers for a training session.
